Advocacy Subcommittee

Since its inception, the advocacy subcommittee has made significant strides toward achieving our primary goals for engaging the community in effective advocacy work. While refraining from participation in legislative or governmental advocacy campaigns, our focus remains steadfast on empowering individuals, organizations, and behavioral health providers with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively integrate peer recovery support services into the existing SUD continuum of care. Our subcommittee has diligently engaged in discussions surrounding pertinent bills and public reports impacting the recovery community.

Workforce Development Subcommittee

The Workforce Development Subcommittee focuses on collaborating with stakeholders in the recovery community to develop and disseminate best practices and toolkits, with a particular emphasis on Peer Support. Their work began with a comprehensive survey distributed to NJ-CARS’ extensive network of over 800 members, aimed at identifying knowledge gaps and areas of need within the community. The insights gained from this survey have enabled a data-driven approach to tailoring strategies that address these needs. The subcommittee’s initiatives are guided by this data, aiming to empower and support New Jersey’s recovery workforce effectively.

Organizational Collaboration Subcommittee

The Organizational Collaboration Subcommittee focuses on enhancing collaboration among a wide range of stakeholders within the New Jersey recovery community. Their main goal is to facilitate discussions that address the collective needs of these organizations and to foster opportunities for mutual support. By improving communication and coordination, the subcommittee aims to prevent the duplication of efforts in a busy sector. They promote a culture of sharing knowledge and resources, aiming to enhance the delivery of services to those seeking recovery. This proactive strategy helps streamline referrals to appropriate services, ensuring that individuals have access to comprehensive and coordinated support in their recovery journey.

Centralized Information Subcommittee

The Centralized Information Subcommittee is working on developing a real-time database that includes information like available beds in rehab facilities across New Jersey. This initiative addresses the pressing need for easier access to treatment options within a crowded recovery landscape. By centralizing such critical information, the subcommittee aims to offer both the public and professionals free access to a comprehensive resource directory. This facilitates more efficient and informed decision-making for those pursuing recovery. Their efforts to ensure the accessibility and timely distribution of these resources underscore their commitment to enhancing the effectiveness and availability of treatment services statewide.
